Lewes, Delaware is the first town in the first state. The Dutch settled Lewes in 1631, and in 2006, the town celebrated its 375th birthday. Visitors to Lewes enjoy its rich history, picturesque beaches, and numerous recreational activities. Lewes’ downtown district features historic buildings, unique shops, and gourmet restaurants, as well as the Lewes Rehoboth Canal and Delaware Bay, which are all within walking distance to the Savannah Inn.
Cape Henlopen State Park sits a few minutes east of Lewes and has five miles of shoreline where the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean.
